I blew a 33% today for my PFT!!! Yay!!!
I am almost back to my baseline, almost back to my best numbers as of late which happened back in September. God is so good, I am so glad I have started to inch my way back up. I could feel it, I thought I was doing better and it's nice to see on paper that I'm not imagining things.
But there is something interesting to note. I never would have noticed this until I started charting my progress at home, but the values each hospital uses to determine that percentage are different. So for a person of my height and weight, the figure would be 33% at Mizzou, 35.5% at Mercy, and 35.2% at Barnes. Isn't that weird, and kinda dumb? Shouldn't there be a standard across the board so it is the same no matter where you go? Turns out there isn't, and I guess it just depends on the software and the computer doing the testing. So that's why we can't truly just go by the percentage. It is best to look at the raw data and compare it. Therefore, even when I compare the raw numbers I am just .07 liters away from my best numbers. I can do it!
In other news, Jarrod and I have been talking like Batman tonight and I really wish I could record Jarrod, he's pretty good at it. Have you seen the Batdad videos? This dad gives short tidbits of parenting advice with the ridiculous Batman voice and it's hilarious; something like "BEN! Be sure to brush your gums. You don't want... gingivitis." I mean, I loved Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight movies, but Christian Bale's cover-up voice for Batman just got more and more deep, raspy, and silly as time went on. So after a joke I made, we've been talking in Batman sentences this evening. Try it, it's really funny. You might want to put up the... Christmas lights tonight. It's going to get... cold. (Look up the video and that might make a bit more sense.)
