and the hills turn to dust,
yet the love of the Lord will stand
as a shelter for all
who will call on His name.
Sing the praise and the glory of God!"
The song goes on and part of the verse is (possibly out of order):
"[...something...] He will not forget your name.
Should you wander away from Him,
he will not abandon you." And the refrain repeats.
First of all, it's really weird that this is stuck in my head. But I had a small epiphany while singing this over and over: God's really amazing.
Well, duh, Jamie, we all know this already. But... Think about it like this (are you ready for my mini-realization?): If you were dating someone, you would definitely not stick around based on the way most of us 'treat' God. If they didn't talk to you for a week or more, you'd leave. If they never let you in to their life, truly, you'd probably leave. If they never let you help them out, you'd get tired of it. I think there's something in the song about 'He will always take you back' too. Would we always, time and time again, be so open to this same significant other who constantly screwed up and constantly left us? No, I don't know of anyone who would be so tolerable on a constant basis.
Yet, there's God. And He always wants us to come to Him and He will ALWAYS be there, ready to welcome us back. Pretty awesome, huh?
