Movie people in America got some happy news today about the next Batman installment from the almighty Christopher Nolan. For one, the title is to be "The Dark Knight Rises." I approve. Also, the Riddler is not going to be the main villain, as originally suspected. But, most importantly the big news today was...

It is not going to be in 3D!

I myself was excited to find this out, and from what I've seen, many other people are excited about that too. Which leads me to my point: based on this, I feel it's obvious that the movie-going audience does not want 3D right now. And the fact that myself and others like me still consider this a "trend" says something, too. By calling it a trend, it means that we aren't convinced that this is going to last, or maybe we don't feel this is the 'right' path to take the movie business. Right now, it seems that movie makers are making movies in 3D for the sake of making them in 3D. I felt this in Toy Story 3. Granted, I love Toy Story and pretty much everything that comes out of the Pixar Studio, but the fact that Toy Story 3 was 3D added nothing to it. There was nothing that popped out of the screen, nothing came out to grab me; it didn't really add anything. I am positive that the graphics would have been just as crisp, just as sharp, and just as colorful had it not been in 3D.

TV makers are just as guilty at this point too because 3D TV's are a major part of the TV showroom now. Will it last? I'm not sure that it will. For one, the glasses for at-home viewing are ridiculously pricey and are only specific to the TV you buy. Also, it has been said that 3D viewing is not good for some people with certain vision problems, and that it can still cause many headaches and tired eyes for anyone with or without vision problems.

But for now, I'm just glad there are other people like me who are also resisting this technology change. And that Batman will not be made in 3D.
