Our butterfly

I have noticed over the past couple weeks that we have, what seems to be, a resident butterfly. Otherwise, we have a family of butterflies. But either way, there is this butterfly I keep seeing when I sit out on the front porch. She has landed a couple times near my feet on the bench and also seems to like some of the shrubs out front, too.

I did some research, and our lovely little butterfly is a 'Astyanax' Red-spotted Purple (Limentitis arthemis astyanax). I finally got a great picture of her two days ago that really displays the colors quite well.



[Side note: it was taken with my old Canon PowerShot G6—this thing is from... eh, the 2005 era and only takes 7.1 mega-pixels, but I am super impressed with the image quality I got here. I forgot how much I like this camera for macro shots.]
